Influenced by Indian and Persian miniature paintings, these small gems are executed on paper with gouache enriched with pure pigments.
THE CLIENT HAD A VISION OF HER EMPOWERED SELF WEARING A PAGODA ON HER HEAD. SIMULTANEOUSLY, HER NEGATIVE INNER VOICES ATE AWAY AT HER SELF-CONFIDENCE. WHILE CONTEMPLATING HER DILEMMA IN A SEMI-DREAM STATE, I "SAW" A BALINESE DANCER AND "HEARD" GAMELAN MUSIC. A BIT OF RESEARCH REVEALED THAT THE PAGODA FROM HER VISION WAS WORN BY THESE DANCERS WHEN POSSESSED BY THE GODDESS. THE HANDS ARE SEPARATE PAINTINGS THAT CAN BE MOVED AROUND AT WILL TO FORM VARIOUS MUDHRAS. THE TRIPTYCH IS USED AS A MIRROR TO SPEAK TO (AND AS ) THE EMPOWERED AND DISEMPOWERED SELF. INEVITABLY, IT IS DISCOVERED THAT THEY EACH FEED THE OTHER.
